If you are a photographer, Colorado contains a lot of low hanging fruit. Many of the iconic scenes and sites have been captured thousands and perhaps millions of times both by professionals and amateurs. My goal is to capture images that literally put the viewer there. Both artful and scenic sometimes the beauty is in the minutiae!

From bright sunshine to moonlight, through every season of the year the same image can have innumerable manifestations. Unlike a painter like Monet who was frustrated at times with the inability to capture quickly what he saw the photographer has the advantage of instant capture over minutes, hours or days. Many times, though, the image is just right there before me like a gift to be shared!

Almost all of my photographs came from hiking and backpacking in Colorado and the Medicine Bow of southern Wyoming. Sometimes hot and dry, sometimes cold and wet, bright sunshine to clouded flat light, first light to fading evenings all bring out a beauty in what can mostly seem mundane. Sometimes hot and dry, sometimes cold and wet, bright sunshine to clouded flat light, first light to fading evenings all bring out a beauty in what can mostly seem mundane.
